Double Vision

[dress: Urban Outfitters, both belts: Ann Taylor, wedges: Miz Mooz, both headbands: Walgreens, necklace: Juicy Couture, earrings: Francesca's]

For this look, I wanted to focus on the colors pink and yellow yet still bring attention to the beautiful blue that served as my canvas in my dress and shoes. I thought it was very creative of me to double up on thin belts as well as thin headbands, and then add some fun colorful earrings and bracelets to pull the whole look together. I'll definitely be doing more of this "doubling" technique in the future because I'm pleased with how it all turned out. It's a very summery outfit for the tail end of August, but that's okay because down here in North Carolina, this hot summer weather isn't going anywhere anytime soon! Happy long weekend everyone! Let me know what you think of doubling up!

August is always such a crazy busy month for me and this year has been no different (hence my lack of posting over the past week). I just started school, today actually, and I'm back in North Carolina beginning my sophomore year of college. You'll notice that my posts to come over the next weeks will be in the same location I used back at home, and that's because I keep a log of photo shoots I do, so in those busy times (like now for example), I can just pull up pictures from a few weeks ago and post about that. But don't worry, Elon has a beautiful campus and I'll be taking many photo shoots here as well!
This is an outfit I put together for a party and I'm obsessed with how the colors all flow perfectly together and the shoes have the same colors as the outfit! There I go, color coordinating again! I just can't seem to stop!

Watermelon Twist

Colored shorts have been a huge trend this summer, and I have to say that I jumped on the bandwagon right away. Adding colored or printed bottoms to your wardrobe instantly means that you have many more outfit options- not to mention that your ensemble becomes brighter and fresher in an instant! Color coordinating is one of my signature "things", and I think this outfit is a great example of that! My pink bangles match my shorts as well as my headband, and my nail polish goes perfectly with my top. I also love how these particular shades of green and pink compliment each other extremely well, and even though I'm wearing watermelon colors, that's not the 1st thing that comes to mind when you see this look. I mean after all, who wants to be associated with a giant watermelon?!

My 20th Birthday!

Saturday, August 18, 2012

Happy weekend everyone! Yesterday was my 20th birthday, I know I know, "the birthday of nothing," but I have to say, my twenties are off to a fantastic start so far! I'm from a suburb right outside Chicago and I love the city atmosphere, so for my birthday I rode a train into the city with my best friend in the world and the greatest boyfriend on the planet. The 3 of us had a blast roaming the city, eating good food, taking fabulous pictures just about everywhere, and of course shopping on Michigan Avenue! Later on, my family met us down there for a lovely dinner and some night strolling. I can't think of a more perfect way to have spent my birthday and it served as great closure to the summer (I leave for school back in NC in only 5 days)!

Here are some of my favorite shots from yesterday's birthday festivities:

The train ride down!

We found so many beautiful gardens

I love how we both matched in our white dresses!

Of course there has to be a back shot!

The iconic Bean in Millenium Park

The Foot pond! Such a refreshing spot to relax and soak

Where we had dinner- Hub 51. It was very trendy and full of life! Excellent food

That's a true image of best friends right there

We like to breakout in dance...and sometimes even song!

Arguably the most beautiful fountain ever created

My little sister! <3

The Chicago skyline is so beautiful at night. I love being by the water too- makes for a pretty perfect picture

I couldn't have asked for a better birthday!
