Ready Set Spring // sweater dress + sock booties

A cheerful sweater dress can go a long way when you've got an unrequited longing for spring. I wore this bright number this past weekend, and I barely noticed it was only 46 degrees! ...Well ALMOST barely noticed ;)

One of the many great things about wearing a sweater dress is that you're able to satisfy your craving for a sundress while still remaining warm. It's the best of both worlds and truly is the perfect solution to transitional dressing -- and fickle temps!

While sweater dresses can easily look frumpy, opt for a form-fitting style like this one. The cable-knit material is super flattering, and with such a curve-hugging silhouette, your comfiest dress just also became your favorite going-out dress! Polish it off with some type of heel and a statement purse -- I'm personally loving anything metallic right now.

Spring is near, I can feel it! But until then, I'm going to continue rocking bright colors and as many long-sleeved dresses as I can find. Let's beat the cold-weather blues together!

Hello Yellow // spring dress + thigh-high boots

Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper's spring dress
Ease into spring with sundresses that offer substantial warmth (think thicker materials and long sleeves) and high-as-the-sky boots (open toe acceptable because, well, it IS March and by gone it you've earned it). And as for your dress, go the extra mile by opting for a bright sunny hue!

Of course a statement-making dress needs an equally bold bag to go with it. My Alice & Olivia "Time Out!" purse compliments my frock perfectly, and I love how it introduces more color into my look. In fact, it inspired me to paint my lips Fenty red and throw on seaglass-colored sunnies.

These Guess boots are ideal for those times when you're in between seasons. They allow me to rock an open toe and sling-back heel while still providing plenty of warmth. Consider my sandal craving officially satisfied...at least for now.

My friend Oly and I took these photos in Chinatown after a weekend brunch date. We were both inspired by the bold colors peppering the area -- like the above red columns. However, it's still not as warm as we'd all like it to be here in NYC. What you DON'T see pictured? My down coat...

March Madness // black ruffle sweater + beanie

Wednesday, March 14, 2018

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper's winter street style
Is it just me, or does March feel like the new February? It's maddening, right? Just when I thought, "Ok, winter wasn't THAT bad," we got hit with an arctic blast that does not seem to be backing down -- even though spring is just days away. Welcome to winter 2.0!

Ruffles were a real winning trend this past season, and they're going to remain popular through spring. A versatile ruffle-sleeve sweater like this one works now with jeans, boots, and a hat, and later with a mini skirt and mules.

This is an every day outfit for me. Ever since purchasing these jeans this past fall, I've worn them regularly. They obviously work perfectly with sock booties, but for spring I'm already looking forward to pairing them with pumps and strappy sandals.

While I love a good jeans & sweater combo, I'm officially over winter. Who's with me? Here's to warmer days ahead!

Winter Forever // statement blazer + flare jeans

As I write this, a massive snowstorm is about to hit the Northeast -- winter go home, you're drunk! But while I'm SO ready for spring to arrive for good, this is one of my favorite cold-weather outfits from this season. Stripes, leopard, denim, and pops of red definitely help put a pep in my step when it's freezing!

How gorgeous are these metallic-heeled booties? I wish I could give you all a link to them, but unfortunately I bought these nearly a year ago, so they're no longer on the market. However, you can shop a similar pair in black here. I love finding a fun pair of boots that make winter dressing less boring.

I originally was going to wear a plain brown belt with this look, but at the last minute I grabbed this leopard calf-hair style instead. I'm so glad I did too -- it gives my ensemble a chic, playful vibe. Plus, it never hurts to be reminded that leopard truly is a neutral!

Since winter is here to stay for a little while longer, the least we can do is grin, bear it, and (at least try to) look fabulous!
