Spring To It // pink vest + bell sleeved sweater

spring work outfit ideas
When it comes to this season, think pink. Specifically, millennial pink. You know, it's that shade you've been seeing all over Instagram lately - the one that strangely makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. In my book, it's a neutral, which is why I'm hopping on the bandwagon and embracing this hue all spring long.

In-between weather calls for an in-between outer layer. Enter this sleeveless coat. It's not really a jacket, yet not really a vest either, making it perfect for warmish chilly temps - I KNOW you know what I'm talking about. And in millennial pink it's the "it" piece you never knew you needed...until now!

The only thing trendier than millennial pink? Bell sleeves. From the dramatic to the minimal, there's definitely a statement cuff for you. Since I'm petite, I prefer to stick to less intense flares, making this flirty sleeve ruffle JUST the right amount of bold. It really takes a run-of-the-mill sweater from boring to special.

Speaking of special, how fun are these metallic-heeled booties? Shiny finishes have been giving my wardrobe life lately, and so purchasing these shoes from Zara was a no-brainer. Styling them? Even simpler!

Diving full force into spring, I unapologetically embraced pastels for this look, even opting to carry my lilac Rebecca Minkoff crossbody. And don't forget my seafoam green nails; it's all in the details ;)

Playing off my green nails, I threw on one of my very favorite necklaces. Designed by Alexis Bittar, this piece is edgy, cool, and a bit magical. I love how it seems to glow green.

My nude sunglasses have made yet another blog appearance, and summer hasn't even started yet. Consider this purchase ALREADY worth it! When black or white sunnies are too overpowering, taupe hits just the right style note. Ya feel me?

Nothing special with my makeup here. I dusted a medium shade of brown in my lid creases and brushed a silvery shade over the rest of my lids. I wanted my lips to look healthy and natural with a touch of pink, which I was able to easily achieve using Fresh's Sugar Rose Tinted Lip Treatment in "Rose." Voila!

Adding a sweet splash of color to my ensemble transformed my whole look into something playful and polished. It is, after all, nearly May! So "spring to it" and get cheery for goodness sakes.

I don't know about where you're living, but here in NYC the weather can't seem to make up its mind. One day it's 84 degrees with sunshine and the next it's 53 and rainy. Get. It. Together. But let's be real, these up-and-down temps are way better than suffering through below freezing winds and sweltering hot heat waves. #LetsNotBePicky! Anyone else feeling grateful for spring right about now?

Show Your Stripes // orange & blue jacket + ruffle blouse

spring outfit ideas 2017
The secret's out - I'm crazy for stripes! And while I wear J.Crew striped T's as much as the next millennial, you've GOT to change up your style game every once in a while. So showing my stripes off in a whole new way, I styled this funky look. And it just so happens to be ultra office appropriate and totally street-style chic all wrapped up in one.

Don't be shy, go ahead and flaunt those stripes! When I first saw this Ann Taylor top coat, I knew it was a special piece. Featuring both vertical and horizontal stripes, it's definitely one of those clothing items that make your entire outfit a "complete look." It's unique, vibrant, and perfect for spring. Basically, it's what fashion "It" girls dream of.

Ruffles. If you're into the fashion scene whatsoever, you already know frills and froufrou have been dominating stores lately. This blouse, although a few years old (and by "a few" I mean I bought it in 2012), is still completely relevant today. But I gave it an edgier look by throwing such a powerful jacket over it. So if "romance dressing" isn't your thing, don't forget how impactful accessories can be!

Ankle trousers - or as I like to call them, cigarette pants - are a complete must-have for any modern woman. They're THE office pant to own, and they totally come in handy when you're sick of wearing denim. Since I'm barely 5'2, I bought mine in petite to ensure they hit my ankles in jussst the right spot. Because when it comes to, well, pretty much anything, fit is everything.

While I love statement footwear - from metallic, to leopard, to glitter - sometimes you need to go back to the basics. Nude ankle-strap heels are a sure winner if you don't know what shoe to slip on with that crazy printed top of yours. They blend in while still looking uber polished and ladylike.

A clean white purse is one of those spring accessories you never knew you needed. While black is timeless and sophisticated, white is fresh and cheerful. And with a woven texture and fun tassels, this Michael Kors beauty easily compliments anything I wear.

These nude-hued sunnies have been my obsession lately. Sometimes when I wear white, or any other bright color, I don't want to throw my look off by sporting contrasting black frames. Sunglasses like these are the perfect solution. See how black could be overpowering with an outfit like this?

Dainty dangle earrings were the only real jewelry I needed here. With ruffles galore, I understandably didn't want to pile on the jewels. This style is glamorous without competing for attention.

Keeping my makeup simple and light, I opted for Urban Decay's "Sin" shadow on my lids followed by "Suspect" on my eyelid creases, and "Mushroom" on my outer corners. And don't forget to use Primer Potion as a first layer!

Shedding your big puffy coat once winter wraps up is one of life's biggest joys. Showing off a new, lighter, much more stylish jacket in its place is another. Basically just an extra long blazer with big buttons, this top coat is my spring essential for 2017, and I've already worn it countless times!

Springtime's Edge // ruffle blouse + leather jacket

Wednesday, April 12, 2017

spring street style
While spring is the perfect time of year to bust out your favorite floral, ruffle, and lacy pieces, it's fun to mix it up and add a little leather in between all the romanticism. Giving a polished girly blouse majorly edgy vibes, I'll show you how to put a badass spin on springtime classics.

Thanks to Hamilton, high-neck ruffle blouses owned the runways this past spring season. But you don't need to feel "stuffy" to rock this trend. Rather than pairing my top with a pencil skirt, I gave it a modern makeover and styled it with so-now accessories and rock-n-roll extras.

It all begins with leather. A black moto jacket is a classic closet staple that I can't speak highly enough of. It especially comes in handy in times like these; when you're craving some edge with a side of rocker-chic polish. A layer like this will instantly transform your "grandma" blouse into something suitable for 2017. In short, a leather jacket can be a real outfit saver.

When simple blue jeans won't cut it, I turn to black denim. There's just something so fresh about a midnight pair of jeans -- they scream rockstar to me. And while I love holey pants, this pair is office-approved and STILL stylish. Paired with a matching black jacket, this may just be your new uniform.

Black and white is great and all, but I couldn't resist adding a dash of fun into the mix here. Cobalt blue looks so sharp paired with black, and with a pointed-toe, these loafers are the definition of #ShoeGoals. Without them, my outfit would not be nearly as interesting.

Another focal point of my look, a printed bag provides edge and excitement to any ensemble. Leopard is chic and "uptown" while snakeskin is urban and "downtown."

Does it get any more classic-cool than Ray-Bans Wayfarers? The answer is no, it does not. These iconic sunglasses are effortless, versatile, and super hip.

White pearl earrings are a lot of things, but "edgy" is not one of them. To give my outfit that extra oomph, I put on gray pearl studs. They compliment my feminine blouse while paying tribute to my moody extras.gray pearl earrings

Neutral makeup with a subtle flushed glow was what I tried to achieve with this beauty look. I love how my lips are unmistakably red, but they're not over-the-top cherry red. It's a happy medium!

I put this look together to prove that hard and soft styles CAN live together in harmony. It's all about seamlessly blending romantic pieces with tough pieces to create a modern feminine aesthetic. And honestly, I'm kind of hooked on the result!
