If you're anything like me, you're sick and tired of chilly weather! And since New York is still experiencing less-than satisfying temps, I decided to take matters into my own hands. All it took was a little creativity to transform a summer dress into a piece that's wearable in 40 degree weather - here's how I did it!
Standout style has never been simpler thanks to SS17's modern ruffles, off-the-shoulder silhouettes, and statement sleeves. This fun dress incorporates some of the most envy-worthy spring/summer trends in a super fresh way. And it looks even more modern when paired with a turtleneck.
Clearly this is a warm-weather frock. But by adding a few strategic layers, it works just as well in the winter. The key to this look is keeping your color palette simple. I chose all black under-pieces so not to distract from the main attraction, thus tying the whole outfit together.
Not only did I select black tights and a black turtleneck to winterfy my ensemble, but I also wore black shoes to create a uniform look - therefore giving myself a clean, sleek line.
Round sunglasses require minimal effort yet provide maximum impact. I love the 70s vibe they give off too, and the mint hue on this particular pair brightens up any skin tone.
A bright yellow clutch is what gives my outfit springtime flair. It's playful and energetic while remaining sophisticated and structured - the perfect companion to carry you from desk to dinner.
The way to wear your earrings now is statement and shoulder-grazing. Think pom poms, tassels, and shiny geometric shapes that swish when you walk. Paired with an off-the-shoulder piece, they stand out even more!
I don't normally rock dark eyeshadow, but this look inspired me to experiment with my Naked Smoky palette. I ended up giving myself a dusty gray lid with subtle tones of navy. And while a bit intense, I think it works perfectly for after dark. A neutral peach lipstick by Butter London completes my face.
I was in the mood to wear something springy and light, so I did! And while waiting for the weather to turn warmer, you can too. Remember, layers are your friend, and all it takes is a little out-of-the-box thinking to refurbish your cold-weather options.

These photos were taken during an exceptionally cold NYC day earlier this month. And while I originally aimed to shoot outside, I changed my mind once stepping into the cold abyss. So believe it or not, these pics were taken indoors! My dad and I traveled to The MET and had a blast shooting in their naturally-lit spaces. Plus, we got a dose of culture once we were through snapping!
