Living Easy On Governor's Island :: daisy romper

Wednesday, July 9, 2014

The perfect romper can be hard to find - trust me. But once it's found, it'll make a world of difference in your wardrobe. Easy, comfortable, versatile, and chic, rompers are the unofficial uniform of summer! Seriously, I could live in this.
I love that with a romper you get the feminine look of a dress yet the playfulness of shorts. There's truly nothing more worry-free and comfy!
With this look I aimed for a romantic, bohemian feel. I thought my nude wedges, a lace coverup, and big silver earrings would be the perfect accessories to pull that off. In fact, one of the most stylish bloggers I know, Jessi from Haircut and General Attitude, was my muse for this shoot. Jessi never fails to put together incredibly unique and inspiring outfits that truly showcase her personality and talent for styling. Checkout one of my favorite posts of hers right here
This romper works both with and without the coverup, but I personally love the addition of lace - I think it makes the whole look complete and a bit more ethereal and whimsical.
Rompers, much like a sundress, can easily be dressed up or down. For a more casual look, you could pair this with white sneakers and a chambray button-down or vest.
I was so excited when I found this lace coverup from Urban this weekend. It's very summery without being heavy or overpowering. I can easily picture myself wearing it with almost anything and I love that the clothes I'm wearing underneath show through. It has a vintage feel while still looking modern.

These photos were taken this past weekend on the gorgeous Governor's Island, which is half a mile from the southern tip of Manhattan. My roomies and I took the ferry to visit this 172-acre island, and we were not disappointed. It felt like such a getaway and there's a night and day difference between the island and the city, yet we were only a few minutes away from Manhattan.

On Governor's Island you can rent bikes (or bring your own), enjoy an array of delicious food trucks, relax in the red hammocks that fill the trees on Hammock Way, visit pop-up shops, see historic landmarks, or have a picnic with some friends. It has such a relaxing & family-friendly atmosphere and although I love the hustle and bustle, it was a real treat to get to see that side of New York.

  29. This romper looks adorable on you Kat! :) I really love how you brought the whole look together ( the updo, the makeup and the accessories)- you are so great at that! :)
Rompers are definitely a really cute summer garment to wear, though one thing that takes too much hassle is going to the toilet! :D Therefore, my advice would be to never wear rompers, playsuits etc to parties- it is a nightmare to get out of it! :D
