Exotic Undertones :: wrap skirt + crop top

Sunday, May 3, 2015

This season I've been having quite the love affair with skirts and crop tops - or as some would call it, the two-part dress. This combo is versatile, easy, and leaves so much room for creativity.
Although I usually tend to gravitate more towards dresses, lately I haven't been able to get enough of skirts - perhaps it's because of their undeniable versatility.  This skirt in particular caught my eye with its exotic print and unique wrap style.  I also love the fact that it's high waisted, it makes wearing crop tops a breeze!
For me this is a look that effortlessly transitions from day to night. I wore this look out to lunch with a friend and then to see a daytime movie. For night, I didn't change a single thing about my look and headed out to a party. Easy peasy!
I added my chambray bomber jacket when the wind picked up. This jacket goes with just about anything, I love it so much!
This statement necklace by Kenneth Jay Lane make an impact that compliments the exotic vibe my skirt gives off. It also serves as a nice way to sneak some color into my look.
Peep-toe booties are my favorite transition shoe for the moment. The best thing about these babies? They're comfortable!
A subtle, gray smokey eye also transitions seamlessly from day to night. Add a slight cat eye effect for some extra drama.

Who's that beauty with me in the picture above? That's my sorority sister and Little, Hayley! She just happened to be doing homework in the grass while my friend and I shot these photos. The spontaneity of seeing her was so wonderful and that's going to be what I miss most about college - seeing friends everywhere and constantly being surrounded by familiar faces.

It's such a comforting feeling to be apart of a close-knit community like Elon and it's something that I don't think can be easily replicated somewhere else. With three weeks left until graduation day, I'm staying in-the-moment and enjoying living within a five minute walk from some of my dearest friends.
