Just because the calendar has declared it's spring, doesn't mean the weather's actually listening yet! Here in NYC for example, there's still loads of snow on the ground. But if you're like me, and looking to ditch your winter coat for good, here's what you need to know...
In this topsy turvy weather, layers are your best friend. So if you can't stand to look at your puffy black winter coat again, start piling on alternatives - literally! Begin with a light cami, throw a thick sweater over it, and then add a medium-weight jacket when you leave the house. Voila! Suddenly your heavy coat doesn't seem so necessary after all.
I love these gray jeans because they allow me to mix up my outfits without straying too far from the everyday. When I'm craving denim but don't want to reach for regular blue jeans for the nth time in a row, this pair checks off all my boxes. These pants especially breathe new life into your typical sweater-and-jeans combo.
Talk about breathing new life...these boots are real traffic stoppers and provide all of my looks with a major edge. And seriously, snakeskin is IN! I have fun pairing these guys with unexpected patterns like stripes, and casual pieces like a fluffy cowl neck sweater.
A beanie is a practical way to add a splash of personality to your ensemble. Here, my red cashmere knit gives my outfit a playful dash of color while ensuring I stay warm - since I've decided to ditch my winter coat for good now. While "cute" can go a long way, it's "function" that truly saves the day.
It's hard to go wrong with a plain black purse. This one is great because it transforms into a clutch too. How clutch is THAT?
Statement earrings that aren't too heavy - or too flashy - are my jam right now. I've been seeing chains incorporated into jewelry all over the place lately, and these beauties are an easy way to take on the trend. I love how modern they feel!
While it's hard to resist red lipstick when I'm wearing red, I opted for a pinker lip here. It gives my outfit a more casual vibe, which is what I was going for.
Perfect for urban exploring, weekend brunching, or daytime adventuring, this ensemble is ideal for the kind of weather most of the country is currently experiencing. When the sun starts to shine, all you have to do is peel layers! And if you've truly broken up with your winter coat, there's no better solution.

Spring is here, people! And while this past weekend was still super chilly, there's a warmer forecast ahead and I cannot wait. Who else is ready to test out their spring break clothes?
