Snake Charming // Turtleneck Layered Under Jumpsuit

One of the many reasons fall is such a glorious season is that the fashion is dynamic and interesting. It’s the one season where it’s actually hard to find yourself in a style rut. BUT if you are feeling like you’ve exhausted all of your current outfit options, may I suggest taking a deep dive into the world of layering? 

Layers are the easiest, most effective, AND most practical way to switch things up. Lately I’ve been pairing a turtleneck with nearly everything from blazers to dresses to jumpsuits, and it’s been a game-changer. Not only has my fall wardrobe nearly doubled, as I can now wear sleeveless items year round, but this technique has added dimension to my closet, instantly making every outfit appear chicer. If you follow me on Instagram, you know I’ve been shamelessly LIVING in these SOREL boots. I have them in both black and brown, but I’ve been wearing my black pair nearly nonstop. Last month, there was one week I wore them every day. 

I received both pairs as a gift after walking in the SOREL mile-long runway show in October. I had been looking for the perfect pair of lace-up boots, and these checked all of my boxes. They’re extremely comfortable and I can confidently wear them all over NYC ALL. DAY. They’re also waterproof, which I love! I personally think they look great with pretty much everything: dresses, skirts, jeans, and jumpsuits.

 These are another batch of photos that my sister and I took during her October visit. We began our day with brunch at the Restoration Hardware rooftop in Meatpacking, and then took these shots outside. We took SO many photos this day, I actually got tired of it, which says A LOT! 

From there, we headed up town and visited Columbia’s beautiful campus just for kicks. In the evening, we saw Waitress on Broadway and loved every minute of it.

Python Pursuit // Jumpsuit + Invisible Heels

If you’re ready to make a statement this summer, opt for a full-body print. I particularly love animal print for its chic neutrality; and lately, python has been my poison of choice.

More and more, I’ve been hearing friends and coworkers praise the ease and versatility of a jumpsuit. Jumpsuits elicit a real power moment that’s equal parts fierce and professional. When the office AC gets the best of you, add a leather jacket or sharp blazer. When winter rolls around, layer a turtleneck underneath.

 I couldn’t wait to try these heels after discovering them on Target.com. Available in both black and nude, I immediately added the nude to my shopping cart, knowing they’d make my legs look super long. I’m happy to let you all know that they have not disappointed! 

They blend into my skin so well, giving my feet that of-the-moment bare-foot look. And in return, they not only pair well with anything, but they enhance my legs, which is ultra-important for a 5′1″ shorty like myself.

I wore this look this past weekend for a day filled of NYC adventuring with Antonio. We started our day on the Lower East Side and made our way through SoHo and into the West Village - all on foot (yes, I did have to slip out of these heels and into some nude flip flops). We ended the evening at our favorite Manhattan pizza place - Emmett’s! Nothing like some Chicago-style pizza to round out an amazing Saturday!

Color Flash // blue jumpsuit + magenta blazer

Bold hues make for a fresh and exciting fall palette that feels empowering and polished. Continuing to plunge into a sea of color this season, I'm adding brights to my regular wardrobe rotation... And in case you couldn't tell, I am all about it.

Rich jewel tones teamed with deep cobalt is your new fashion-forward power pairing. I fell hard when I first spotted this blue jumpsuit, and I love how versatile it's proven to been — despite its out-there color. Next, I plan on pairing it with a leather jacket and black heeled booties. When it gets even colder, this will look just as fabulous with a white turtleneck layered underneath. 

With all of this color going around, I grounded my look with black heels and a moody floral clutch. When in doubt, I've learned that black never fails to tie bright colors together. In turn, delicate jewelry finishes off this look with a touch of elegance and charm.

Happy October! Call me basic for saying it, but October is my favorite month and, yes, I've already decked out our apartment with pumpkins and Halloween decor — anyone else? I've also stocked up on pumpkin-flavored foods and can't wait to bake pumpkin muffins in the upcoming days.

But when it comes down to it, this season is all about comfort and warmth, and let's be real, you can never have too much of that.

Like A Rose // jumpsuit + metallic purse

Roses are having a major moment. I'm making the trend my own in a rose-printed jumpsuit and rose statement earrings. The combo is everything a good date night outfit should be: comfortable, classy, polished, and dramatic. Because let's be real, date night is not the time to be #basic.

This jumpsuit is from Sears. And while I have to admit that I didn't even know Sears sold clothes up until recently, I'm pleasantly surprised by how beautiful this piece is. Better yet, its $36 price tag can't be beat! So if you're in the market for cute yet affordable clothes, give Sears a try.

I'm a big fan of high-low fashion. So although this jumpsuit is inexpensive, I dressed it up with investment-worthy accessories. For example, these Nic + Zoe heels are my newest obsession because they're uber stylish and insanely comfortable. With a block heel and stretchy fabric, they're well worth shelling out $170 for.

I love this outfit because it proves you don't have to spend an arm and a leg to feel trendy and beautiful. I'll be getting a ton of use out of this jumpsuit and I cannot wait to pair it with a black leather jacket in the fall. 

Style rule #34: When it comes to putting together an impressive look, it's all about how you style it -- whether that's with hair, makeup, jewelry, or accessories. And don't forget your confidence! OWN it.

Spotted on every street style star and fashionable coworker alike, the jumpsuit is now cooler than ever. Wear yours over a logo tee (or plain crop top like me) and finish off your look with statement earrings. THAT'S the new way to wear this red-hot trend! 

Breeze between seasons with a chambray button-down. Whether it's tied around your waist or thrown over your shoulders, keep this versatile piece on hand to fend off the chills until summer. 

Elevate your daywear with popping accessories like fire-engine red earrings and a lip to match. Red accents compliment virtually every color combo, but if red's not your thang, try cobalt blue or canary yellow accessories -- those hues are also known for being universally flattering.

I recently wore this outfit to brunch with friends at The Smith and then shopping with Antonio. Walking all over the flatiron district that day, I realized how much I love jumpers, how I don't own enough of them, and how I desperately need more. Luckily they're SO huge right now so pretty much every store has tons of options to choose from.
