Being a shorty at only 5"1, I've never been too keen on maxi dresses or skirts. I admire the boho chic look but it's just that I always thought I could never pull it off since I don't quite have long enough stems for it. Not only that, but it's extremely difficult to find any ankle-length skirts or dresses that don't utterly consume me and require 6 inch heels...until I found this little gem - at Forever21 no less so you know the price was right!

I love high-low skirts because they balance out a petite frame and allow your legs to be shown off without the inappropriateness of a mini. They're playful and flirty and can easily be dressed up for the office, glammed up for a night in the city, or worn with trendy casual pieces for a more downtown vibe.

The LA Effect

LA has transformed my style and caused me to experiment with clothing. I've tried so many new things here and a testing out a more versatile and edgy sense of style is one of them. I'll definitely be taking this newfound taste back home with me.
These black sneakers with a subtle sparkle are my new favorite things in my closet! They honestly go with everything.

Since spending the summer in LA, it's dawned on me just how malleable one's style truly is. Your environment undoubtedly impacts your taste and clothes preferences and I experienced this for myself almost immediately once I arrived in Cali

Back at school in North Carolina, I find myself gravitating towards more preppy pieces. I tend to wear conservative styles that are very girly and classic. Out here in LA however, I've become more attracted to the color black and spikes & studs, and I'm not afraid to show a little skin here or there. I'd consider myself more experimental and versatile. For example, I'm 100% more open to wearing camo and leather leggings now.

California has it's own beautiful culture, and along with that comes it's own sense of style. The lifestyle here is so contagious and exciting! I've loved experimenting and exposing myself to a new perspective on not only fashion but also life. Looks like I may be becoming an LA girl!

All Of The Lights

This summer I've been hardcore crushing on neon and I recently channeled my inner brightness at the LA County Museum of Art.
Let me tell you, I am not typically a huge art person, but I loved this museum! I really enjoyed seeing all the contemporary art pieces - especially the famous LACMA lamp posts (perfect spot for a shoot).

Ever since I've been a blogger, I've consistently seen photo shoots done at this magical location consisting of a plethora of identical lamp posts. Coming to LA I discovered the identity of this special spot and I too got to take some blog pictures in this iconic location. It was pretty exciting! Not to mention getting told that I should be a movie star by a total stranger - LA is definitely treating me well!
