I like to call this my "rockstar" look. Honestly, I'm not sure how "rockstar" I actually look, but I definitely feel cool in these threads. Maybe it's the rebellious vibe of a black denim jacket, or maybe it's the opaque black tights paired with a short skirt. Heck, maybe it's even the natural craziness of my curls. Personally, I think it's a combination (and let's not exclude my dark eyeshadow) that enabled me to feel so glam and yet so badass - pardon my French - all at the same time during this shoot.

Looking like a rockstar is actually easier than one may think. You gotta have lots of black incorporated into your outfit, you need some type of jacket (leather is obviously preferable), boots, and finally some awesome bling. Oh and of course, you can't forget the attitude. Add some wild hair into the mix and bam...rockstar status!

Scarf Power

A great scarf is a powerful tool. However, it can be used for either fashion good or fashion...not-so-good. You never want a scarf to overwhelm you or take away from the fabulous clothes you're wearing. A scarf is meant to enhance your ensemble and add just the right amount of fashion appeal. In a nutshell - wearing a scarf well makes you appear fashion savvy, which is a simple way to gain major style cred.

Different tastes aside, my personal definition of a great scarf is one that really stands out and catches the eye. I love a scarf to have color, texture, and pattern - that's a power threesome right there. A beautiful scarf is the perfect way to add some style and pizzaz to a neutral outfit (like I did with this look). Simply add a colorful/patterned scarf to a plain outfit or layer a solid colored scarf over a more colorful or busy outfit, and you instantly look polished and put-together - all because of one accessory. How sweet and easy is that?! So ladies, stock up on some stylish scarves ASAP! Your wardrobe will thank you later.

Back From The Orlando Sun

So sorry for the lack of posting lately - I just got back today from a weeklong class trip to Orlando, and unfortunately our resort didn't provide wifi strong enough to upload pictures (I kid you not). It was a helpless feeling.

I am very glad to be reentering the blogging world and to be able to post of course, but let me tell you, Orlando was beautiful and I had a wonderful time! Now that I'm back to reality and out of the 80 degree sunshine state, it's boots and sweaters for me. I can still wear my shorts though!...accompanied by tights that is.

I've always liked the look of shorts paired with tights, and this particular pair of shorts can't be worn any other way (in my opinion.) Due to the length of these denim short shorts, I either wear them to the beach or in the winter with tights (two very different occasions.)

My black leather boots paired with this look provide just the right amount of edge that is so appealing to me! The cool vibe this outfit gives off is perfect if you're feeling confined to a winter wardrobe's same-old jeans and coats. Break out of your winter rut! Mix up your daily ensembles with some summery pieces that swing both ways.
