off the shoulder dress with tights
If you're anything like me, you're sick and tired of chilly weather! And since New York is still experiencing less-than satisfying temps, I decided to take matters into my own hands. All it took was a little creativity to transform a summer dress into a piece that's wearable in 40 degree weather - here's how I did it!

Standout style has never been simpler thanks to SS17's modern ruffles, off-the-shoulder silhouettes, and statement sleeves. This fun dress incorporates some of the most envy-worthy spring/summer trends in a super fresh way. And it looks even more modern when paired with a turtleneck.

Clearly this is a warm-weather frock. But by adding a few strategic layers, it works just as well in the winter. The key to this look is keeping your color palette simple. I chose all black under-pieces so not to distract from the main attraction, thus tying the whole outfit together.

Not only did I select black tights and a black turtleneck to winterfy my ensemble, but I also wore black shoes to create a uniform look - therefore giving myself a clean, sleek line.

Round sunglasses require minimal effort yet provide maximum impact. I love the 70s vibe they give off too, and the mint hue on this particular pair brightens up any skin tone.

A bright yellow clutch is what gives my outfit springtime flair. It's playful and energetic while remaining sophisticated and structured - the perfect companion to carry you from desk to dinner.

The way to wear your earrings now is statement and shoulder-grazing. Think pom poms, tassels, and shiny geometric shapes that swish when you walk. Paired with an off-the-shoulder piece, they stand out even more!

I don't normally rock dark eyeshadow, but this look inspired me to experiment with my Naked Smoky palette. I ended up giving myself a dusty gray lid with subtle tones of navy. And while a bit intense, I think it works perfectly for after dark. A neutral peach lipstick by Butter London completes my face.

I was in the mood to wear something springy and light, so I did! And while waiting for the weather to turn warmer, you can too. Remember, layers are your friend, and all it takes is a little out-of-the-box thinking to refurbish your cold-weather options.

These photos were taken during an exceptionally cold NYC day earlier this month. And while I originally aimed to shoot outside, I changed my mind once stepping into the cold abyss. So believe it or not, these pics were taken indoors! My dad and I traveled to The MET and had a blast shooting in their naturally-lit spaces. Plus, we got a dose of culture once we were through snapping!

Endless Winter // sweater + jacket + beanie

fall outfit ideas
Just because the calendar has declared it's spring, doesn't mean the weather's actually listening yet! Here in NYC for example, there's still loads of snow on the ground. But if you're like me, and looking to ditch your winter coat for good, here's what you need to know...

In this topsy turvy weather, layers are your best friend. So if you can't stand to look at your puffy black winter coat again, start piling on alternatives - literally! Begin with a light cami, throw a thick sweater over it, and then add a medium-weight jacket when you leave the house. Voila! Suddenly your heavy coat doesn't seem so necessary after all.

I love these gray jeans because they allow me to mix up my outfits without straying too far from the everyday. When I'm craving denim but don't want to reach for regular blue jeans for the nth time in a row, this pair checks off all my boxes. These pants especially breathe new life into your typical sweater-and-jeans combo.

Talk about breathing new life...these boots are real traffic stoppers and provide all of my looks with a major edge. And seriously, snakeskin is IN! I have fun pairing these guys with unexpected patterns like stripes, and casual pieces like a fluffy cowl neck sweater.

A beanie is a practical way to add a splash of personality to your ensemble. Here, my red cashmere knit gives my outfit a playful dash of color while ensuring I stay warm - since I've decided to ditch my winter coat for good now. While "cute" can go a long way, it's "function" that truly saves the day.

It's hard to go wrong with a plain black purse. This one is great because it transforms into a clutch too. How clutch is THAT?

Statement earrings that aren't too heavy - or too flashy - are my jam right now. I've been seeing chains incorporated into jewelry all over the place lately, and these beauties are an easy way to take on the trend. I love how modern they feel!

While it's hard to resist red lipstick when I'm wearing red, I opted for a pinker lip here. It gives my outfit a more casual vibe, which is what I was going for.

Perfect for urban exploring, weekend brunching, or daytime adventuring, this ensemble is ideal for the kind of weather most of the country is currently experiencing. When the sun starts to shine, all you have to do is peel layers! And if you've truly broken up with your winter coat, there's no better solution.

Spring is here, people! And while this past weekend was still super chilly, there's a warmer forecast ahead and I cannot wait. Who else is ready to test out their spring break clothes?

After Dark Attitude // choker dress + thigh-high boots

winter street style nyc
Unfortunately spring went back into hiding here in NYC. But while chilly days are still ahead, at least I can keep things chic with my favorite leopard coat, thigh-high boots (which, lets be honest, make every day better), and a fabulous choker dress.

By now everybody knows that chokers are hot. And this super flattering dress just happens to have one built INTO it - how cool is that? You're literally one-and-done with no need to worry about accessorizing. Fashion has never been so brilliant! Oh, and did I mention this exact dress is on sale? It also comes in loads of colors!

You've seen this coat a million times and you're going to continue to see it time and time again - sorry not sorry. It's a closet staple that takes every winter outfit up a notch. If you haven't already, I highly suggest investing in one of these bad boys - it'll change your style game!

True story: Kristin Cavallari once asked me if these boots were Stuart Weitzman. Obviously I died. First, Kristin Cavallari talked to me - eek! Second, these gorgeous boots cost a FRACTION of what a pair of SWs cost. But hey, I tricked an actual shoe designer, and you can too! Wear a faux suede pair with something fierce and prepare for the compliments to star rolling in!

All this look needed was a simple black purse, nothing too flashy. I wanted my handy-dandy carrier to blend in, and that's exactly what it did. But when it IS noticed, it has a fun little tassel, which adds subtle personality.

These artsy earrings are light as air, which is why I love wearing them for any occasion - even out at night or to a party! They're super modern and different but still manage to look great with pretty much everything in my closet.

I read somewhere recently that shades of plum are the hottest lipstick trend. The article said that plum hues look fantastic on ANY skin tone, and I could not agree more. But if you're having trouble finding your perfect shade, Nars in "Liv" is known for being universally flattering. I tried it out for myself (which is what you see me wearing here), and I fell in love.

This outfit is perfect for an after-dark affair, don't you think? Truth be told, I actually wore this same exact look on New Year's Eve and I felt like a goddess all night. Seriously, these choker dresses are FIRE! And if you pair one with over-the-knee boots, you're just owning the street style game.

As sad as it is, the groundhog was right and there truly will be a few more weeks of winter. We got so lucky last month with a surprise heatwave! And while we still have a few scattered days of warmth here and there, it may actually snow this upcoming weekend...I KNOW! The bright side? At least I can still get a few more wears out of this leopard coat.
