Can It Be Spring?

Thursday, February 27, 2014

Technically I bought this dress for spring, but with the weather luck we've been having lately I don't think I'll be getting the chance to wear it as intended any time soon. So, I got creative and turned this dress into a chilly-weather garment while I "patiently" hold out for spring's arrival.
I couldn't resist adding one of my favorite statement necklaces. Its vintage appeal adds a touch of instant romance!
I can always count on my spiky bracelets from Stella & Dot to provide a splash of edge.
I am so drawn to the colors and vibrancy of this dress. But I what I really love about it is that the colors are set against a black background so that the brightness isn't too overwhelming. I can definitely see me reaching for this dress no matter what the season is. All I need to do is add tights, a jacket, and some booties and I've got a look that works even on cold days.
I'm starting to become more aware of the silhouettes that look better on my body type, and this fit-and-flare style dress is definitely a winning fit for me! Being an hourglass shape, I'm always looking for a flattering dress that's tight up top and flares at the bottom to show off my curves in a modest way.

Spring needs to hurry up and get here because I am getting so anxious to throw on some new sundresses without having to worry about freezing to death. As much as I love my black tights and rely on them all throughout the winter, I sure hope I don't have to keep pulling them out in March.

Here's to warmer weather (everybody cross your fingers)!

Meet My Boyfriend [Jeans]

Friday, February 21, 2014

I don't want my skinnies to think I'm cheating on them, but lately I can't get enough of my boyfriend jeans! I can tell they're going to be my go-to pant this spring.

Let me tell you why having a pair of boyfriends is all the rage (and let's be real, who needs just one?)
Boyfriend jeans have built-in effortless slouch, which is trendy right now and not to mention comfy! Yet they're still figure-flattering when matched with a structured top.
The ankle length here is perfection and I can't wait to wear heels with them once the weather gets a tad warmer.
Even though these jeans have a boyish cut, don't fret! They're not just for tomboys! Add some femininity to your ensemble with touches of jewelry or a lacey top.

Ah, boyfriend jeans -  the 'sweatpant' of the jeans family. I could write a love song expressing my devotion! ...Okay maybe that's a smidge far, but in all reality, I have been living in these jeans as of late.

These guys go great with a sweater in the fall or anything from a lightweight v-neck to a [tasteful] crop top in the spring. Comfy, reliable, always there when you're feeling down/having a fat day, suitable for all kinds of weather, and they just may make your girlfriends jealous. And yes, I'm still referring to my jeans.

My Sparkly Valentine: Valentine's Day Look #3

Friday, February 14, 2014

A pretty pair of jeans paired with a special top and heels is just as flirty and romantic as a sexy dress.
Incorporating sequence into a casual outfit is one of my favorite ways to add a little spark to any ensemble.
Throw on a colored blazer for a touch of sophistication and pizazz!
Kitten heel pumps easily transition from work to play.

For my last Valentine's Day look I wanted to post an alternate option for those who prefer pants over a dress or skirt. Personally, I almost always choose a dress over anything else, but as it turns out, jeans can be just as glamorous and alluring.

Just because it's a special occasion, doesn't mean you can't rock a fabulous pair of jeans! Accessories are key - heels, blazer/jacket, sparkles, & jewelry. Classy goes effortless when done the jeans way.
