Merry & Bright :: red lace dress + pearls

Wednesday, December 23, 2015

My final holiday look is the most Christmassy of them all. In honor of the big day, I'm going all out in red, pearls, and just a hint of leopard for good measure.
Who can resist a red dress on Christmas? It's traditional yes, but I made it my own by adding loads of jewelry and fierce booties. I love getting into the holiday spirit and what better way to show your Christmas cheer than wearing the merriest color of them all?
This necklace is bold and glamorous, the perfect accessory for this magical holiday. Plus it dresses up my solid ensemble and adds major interest (not to mention charm) to my look.
A touch of fun print, like leopard, is exactly what this outfit needed for a finishing touch; it's striking and a bit unexpected.
These black calf-hair booties are a bit edgier than your traditional pump. Since I'm wearing an all-lace dress, I opted for modern footwear that takes my look from classically sweet to more rocker chic.
A red lip in the same hue as my dress makes a festively elegant statement.
[dress: Ann Taylor (I also like this one) // necklace: Ann Taylor // nylons: Talbots (similar here) // booties: Ann Taylor (I also love these) // earrings: Kate Spade // gold knot bracelet: Kate Spade // gold chainlink bracelet: Stella & Dot // amethyst bangle: David Yurman // clutch: Michael Kors // lipstick: Urban Decay's 'Shame'

Instead of snow this year we're getting rain. In fact, during this photoshoot it was raining steadily. I had to brave the elements and shed my umbrella, all for the love of blogging. But hey, aside from some frizzy hairs, you can't even tell that it was raining outside! And on the bright side it was nearly 60 degrees so I was far from chilly.

I hope everyone has a beautiful Christmas filled with joy, loved ones, and laughter. As I write this I'm packing my suitcase for a much needed four days back at home with the family. Merry Christmas to all!

Party Time :: holiday dressing + glitter pumps

Friday, December 18, 2015

Be the star of any soiree by turning heads in a sweet combination of polished glam and effortless femininity. Oh, and don't forget the glitter! All of you girly girls out there, this one's for you.
Layering a blouse underneath a dress is a chic way to winterize your favorite frocks. I recently paired a black turtleneck with a short sleeved fit-and-flare and I loved that technique so much I couldn't resist styling this adorable blouse in the same way.
A Peter Pan collar is a classic way to keep your look elegant; it's sharp yet completely ladylike.
Giving twinkle toes a new meaning, these glitter pumps have quickly become a favorite of mine. They're unapologetically girly, just like me :) I truly feel like Cinderella in these beauties (aka dream come true)!
An a-line skirt is my first choice when I want to feel my party best. It's such a flattering silhouette and, like the theme of this whole post, completely feminine and spectacularly ladylike.
Oversized sunglasses are a surefire way to make you feel chic in an instant.
A demure clutch is the perfect accessory for any party-ready outfit. I love this purse because it's a crossbody and clutch in one. Just remove the straps and viola - stylish and smart.
These bow earrings were the final touch to my look. They may be small but they pack a hefty feminine punch - better yet they match my shoes!
To create this soft, sultry face, I used Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette to give myself a metallic smoky eye. A gentle flush can be perfectly achieved using Nars iconic blush shade, Orgasm. It's the perfect hue - no matter your coloring. Last but not least, I chose a delicate pink lip, the ultimate ladylike alternative to red.
[dress: Gap (old but I also like this one) // blouse: Ann Taylor (old but I also like this one) // pumps: Ann Taylor // clutch: Michael Kors (very similar option here) // sunglasses: Ann Taylor (old but similar here) // earrings: Betsey Johnson (similar here) // amethyst bangle: David Yurman // heart tag charm bracelet: Tiffany & Co. // lipstick: Urban Decay's 'Obsessed' // eyeshadow: Urban Decay's Naked 2 palette // blush: Nars' 'Orgasm'

It's official, I'll be home for Christmas! I'm Chicago bound this Wednesday and it'll be my first time at home with the family since early June. Now all we need is a white Christmas, am I right? This has got to be the warmest NYC December on record, but I'm honestly not complaining. I love that I get to comfortably wear outfits like this so close to Christmas. In fact, this look was inspired by one of my favorite bloggers, Atlantic Pacific. It was also inspired by one of my favorite designers, Kate Spade. I consider my style to be versatile and ever-evolving, but every once in a while I have to go back to my roots and dress completely girly. It feels so right and it's just so much fun!
