Coat Check :: trench + leather

Saturday, December 27, 2014

Introducing the first coat I've ever blogged about, plus the first trench coat I've ever owned. But this little beauty is no ordinary trench coat and I was so excited to add it to my closet this past summer. The leather keeps it modern and fresh while the khaki and structured silhouette keep it grounded and classic.
For underneath my jacket, I decided to stick with the leather theme and wear a sleek black dress that boasts a major edge.
Anything leather is my new favorite.
The strategic leather detailing on my jacket as well as on my dress brings both pieces together in an effortless and chic way.
These charcoal pearl earrings have ladylike charm combined with a dark edge. My dusky red lip is the perfect accompaniment.
This metallic Marc Jacobs watch was one of my Christmas presents from this past week. The silver coating and shimmery band is so of-the-moment that I can't wait to pair it with more edgy looks.
This hummingbird bracelet by Alex & Ani was another gift I received on Christmas. It represents awakening, healing, and eternity. Hummingbird's wings flutter in the pattern of an infinity symbol, which means they're associated with continuity and persistence. What a fantastic emblem of delicateness and strength!

With a stunning coat like this, who cares how chilly it is outside? I just love throwing on this trench and looking polished and stylish no matter what I have on underneath. It's true what they say, a fantastic coat truly makes your wardrobe!

I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas - my family and I certainly did! But guess what? The holidays aren't over yet. There's still New Year's Eve and day to look forward to...which means there's still more holiday outfit planning to come!

Wonderful Christmastime :: the dress

Tuesday, December 23, 2014

'Tis the season for red lips, lace details, and festive statement jewelry. This is just the type of holiday look meant for the big day - talk about forward-thinking glamour!
A statement necklace will enhance any simple blouse or dress and also pairs nicely with a formal dress that needs something bold. Pearls are stylish and classic. These layered necklaces add uniqueness by blending the traditional look of pearls with the modern look of metal.
A bold zipper adds edge and interest. I love how this one is outlined in leather.
Combine gold bangles and multicolored nails for a holiday-chic vibe.
The lace panels in this dress immediately attracted me to this look. I love the contrast of the black and nude coloring. This is one of my favorite dresses because I love the elegant vibe - and doesn't it look fabulous with a red lip?
Keeping it simple with black pumps so that my dress can easily take center stage.

Merry Christmas everyone! This is the outfit that I picked out for Christmas Eve festivities with my family. I'll be working again this year but luckily I'll get off in time for family time. Every year we exchange gifts with my grandparents and then go to the 6.00 mass in my hometown. For dinner we always go out to eat at a fancy Italian restaurant. Christmas traditions are the best part of the season, aren't they?

Wishing everyone a beautiful and family-filled next two days.
