No Tricks, All Treats :: black

Friday, October 31, 2014

A chic, all-black ensemble is wickedly elegant and eerily mysterious. It also happens to be a no-fail look for after dark.
An evil eye ring coincides perfectly with the spirit of the season. Make it your statement piece by keeping arm candy minimal. A simple black & gold cuff highlights the green & silver in the ring.
Adding nude pumps to an LBD make it daytime ready and incredibly fresh. Opt for strappy black heels once the sun goes down.
Keeping my earrings classic, I stuck with pearl studs. An LBD and pearls is so Audrey that I can almost never resist the combination.
Pink is my signature color and I love incorporating it into as many outfits as possible. A black dress is the perfect way to do that. This pink and rose gold necklace is subtly glamorous and makes this outfit instantly unique.
A dark outfit can really pop with just a swipe of intense red lipstick.
How to-die-for are these shoulder cutouts? I love the peek of skin they show off - I think it gives the dress attitude and allure.

No need for tricks, a simple LBD is all you need this Halloween.

Mastering an all-black ensemble is scarily easy. Not only does the shade serve as a neutral palette for standout accessories, but anyone can rock it. It's true what they say, black is super slimming and super elegant for any occasion. This Halloweekend just add panda ears and you're good to go!

To Tell You The Truth :: purple dress + cowboy boots

Sunday, October 26, 2014

A bold sundress works wonders in the fall. Choose a rich jewel-toned hue and layer on warm accessories for a unique look that's both savvy and stylish.
I love a dress with a little extra oomph. This particular frock has dainty petal-like sleeves and a flirtatious back slit, which gives it loads of personality. A back cut-out is a modest way to show some skin, but if you aren't digging the vibe? Just throw on a jacket!
An olive green trench jacket is a fall staple that I find myself reaching for on the regular. The shade is neutral but not boring while the oversized structure is ideal for layering.
Being from the Midwest but going to school in the South, I've learned to embrace cowboy boots and thus have incorporated them into everyday outfits. They add a whimsical charm to even the most preppy outfits. Down here they're  a no-brainer and worn all year round.
These chains add a modern, edgy flair to an otherwise simplistically sweet look. They're a true focal point and look phenomenal against a solid color. The perfect way to add some pizazz to a minimalist look is through jewelry!

Here it is, the confession: these photos were not taken this month. In fact, they were taken back in April. It's true, I like to keep a backlog of outfit photos for whenever I'm in a pinch and haven't had time to take some shots with my photographer. It's a very handy practice that most bloggers engage in and it has saved me many times! So in case you were wondering where my newly-dyed bleached hair went - now you know. Spoiler alert: it will be back soon!

Although this outfit was photographed in spring, I always had this look in mind for fall. I knew I wanted to save these photos and post them during a chillier month because the entire look - color palette in all - has all of the essential elements that create a classic fall ensemble  From my bold, layered jewelry, to my boots and military-inspired jacket, this look is 100% autumn-approved.

What Lies Underneath :: romper + sweater

Tuesday, October 21, 2014

It's a skirt, it's shorts, it's a dress...nope! It's a romper. Transform your summer favorite into an autumn staple by adding a sweater above and some tights and booties beneath.
Notice something different? I felt like a change so, on a whim, my friend bleached the ends of my hair for a subtle ombre effect. I had never done anything drastic to my hair before but I love it! Who knows, maybe I'll start playing around with my color more often.
These booties are fabulously chic sans heel and they're my favorite shoes to show off with black tights because they blend in so seamlessly. Comfortable enough for a hike and stylish enough to complete a polished ensemble.
I threw on my black, leather bracelet for a touch of edge. Nothing beats this timeless and versatile piece.
Yes, the hat is back. Once I find a piece I love, I recycle it time and time again. You haven't seen the last of this gem!
While styling this outfit I felt like I was playing dress up. I added fun pieces here and there to create a glamorous, slightly over-the-top feel. There's a lot going on - especially from my neck up - but I'm digging the unique effect all of these standout pieces have when paired together.

These are the last of my Virginia photos - so sad. What a beautiful setting for a fall photo shoot! The fog was incredibly thick, which was a bit unsafe to drive in but created such a unique effect on camera. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. Fall is such a magical time for transformation and I think that theme is represented well in these photos.

After coming back from my trip to the mountains I've been hit hard with schoolwork. It's been a busy week but I can't complain too much because in about seven months college will be done and over with, and as we all know, once something is through you can't turn back. So you can find me in North Carolina enjoying my last months of being a student!

Falling Fast :: denim vest + leather leggings

Friday, October 17, 2014

Sometimes the most unexpected combinations create the most stylish looks. Fashion is all about experimentation and this look is a result of me combining a few of my favorite pieces in order to create a comfortable, casual, and of course fashionable ensemble.
I warned you back in June that I'd be wearing this denim vest a lot and I have definitely lived up to that promise. No shame! This baby is one of my favorite purchases of 2014 and I have gotten so much use out of it. It really adds a new dimension to any outfit and I love the laid-back vibe it gives off.
White sneaks are a casually fun choice for footwear - especially next to edgy chic leather leggings. I love the contrast between the two. Plus, simple white sneakers go with everything and no closet should be without.
Can you believe October is already halfway over? Fall certainly is going by fast. I couldn't let the season go by without some ol' fashion apple picking though...and without wearing my denim vest a few hundred times.
It's jewelry details like these that make an outfit original.
I have never seen so many flawless and vibrant apples all in one place before. I'm telling you, these apples are way sweeter than the kind you collect at the grocery store.
Do you think my top knot is as flawless as Blue Ivy's
I found the George Clooney of all pumpkins, which was a highlight of my day. I plucked him from the ground myself!

As promised, here are some lovely mountain pictures from my relaxing retreat in Virginia. My friends and I had a wonderful time cooking, hot tubbing, and of course pumpkin/apple picking. It's not fall if you don't pick a few apples, am I right? The atmosphere was so beautiful that we couldn't resist taking some fun fall shots at the orchard we visited. And maybe, just maybe I matched my lipstick with the apples on purpose...

I'm back at school now and facing reality once again but stay tuned for one more group of photos from the mountains! The scenery was too pretty not to take advantage of.
