Orange You Glad // plaid shorts + twist crop top

Let's talk orange! Arguably THE color of summer, orange is bright, bold, and full of fun. And contrary to popular opinion, anyone can rock this cheerful hue. I grounded the orangeiest of oranges with navy, white, and a dash of lavender. My advice? Don't be afraid!

Twist crop tops have been steadily creeping onto the fashion scene this summer and I am so here for it. Back in May, I immediately snatched this one up in two colors (the orange you see here and also in black because, versatility). Not only is this style made for high-waisted anything and everything, but it's a brilliant swimsuit coverup too.

I may be alone here, but plaid has a tendency to feel "too played out" for my liking. However, it's such a classic print that of course I own MORE than a few plaid things. I combat my iffy feelings about the pattern by pairing it with uber trendy pieces — like look-at-me makeup and/or modern accessories such as pointed-toe shoes and studded jewelry. Traditional, meet edgy.

Although I quickly threw this outfit together earlier this summer when I was home in Chicago, it's actually one of my favorite looks from the season. I especially love how my orange top, sunglasses, and lipstick really popped. But why stop there with the color? My purple crossbody adds a whole other dimension of fun!

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper showing what to wear to a wedding
With wedding season in full swing, it can be challenging to find that perfect guest dress that's versatile enough to work for any and all of the receptions on your calendar. Lucky for you, this lace number is multi-demential, seasonless, and surprisingly flattering. Prepare yourself for the compliments!

Give any wedding look an extra pop with a standout metallic purse. Coated in shiny gold, this Michael Kors clutch is elegant and dressy with major edge. Not going to lie, at my last wedding I felt like royalty carrying it around all night!

Sophisticated, dramatic, and totally glam, lace dresses are not just a passing craze. They've steadily been increasing in popularity over the years, and for the past few seasons they've been hotter than ever. In burgundy, I can still rock this piece through fall and then wear it yet again once spring rolls around. #BangForYourBuck.

I wore this exact look to a wedding I attended earlier this month. Not only was I showered in compliments, but I felt amazing AND amazingly comfortable all day/night. Better yet, my dress stood out against your typical floral prints and LBDs. If this isn't the ultimate frock for a wedding, then I don't know what is!

Beauty And The Beach // red one-piece swimsuit

A boldly-hued one-piece swimsuit is fun, playful, and super flattering. While I love my bikinis, a onesie allows me to freely and comfortably move on the beach -- and that's a win-win! Another major plus? They're très chic.

Of course a beach or a pool day outfit doesn't solely consist of a bathing suit. Enter a stylish coverup, statement accessories, and cute sandals. Instead of going with a traditional coverup, I decided to rock a printed kimono that can just as easily be worn with jeans and a tee -- #versatility.

A red one-piece is a classic when it comes to swimwear -- anyone who's seen Baywatch can tell you that! I love mine because it's simple yet impactful, sexy yet modest. But the best part is that I don't have to worry about a wardrobe malfunction in the waves!

Antonio and I spent a day at Rockaway Beach in Queens, NY earlier this month, and we had THE best time burying our toes in the sand and playing in the ocean. It's something we can't wait to do more of this summer!

Stars, stripes, red, white, and blue -- it must be summer!

Dressing patriotic doesn't have to be kitsch. Denim always works and so does red lipstick. I accessorized with silver and threw on a playful star-print headband for an extra pop.

How sweet are these red sunglasses? Cat-eye frames are officially back in style, and in solid hues like red or white, they're being worn by street style 'it' girls everywhere. I love wearing mine with a matching scarlet lip -- it's a subtle way to get festive for the 4th.

While it may not look like I'm in Manhattan, these fun photos were taken in Central Park! Antonio surprised me one Monday afternoon with a trip to Victorian Gardens, this charming little amusement park smack dab in the city. And while yes, it's mostly for kids, we had SUCH a great time eating carnival food, riding the little rides, and playing Whac-A-Mole. I even won a prize!
