That Awkward Moment :: denim shorts + blazer

As temperatures fluctuate, getting dressed in the morning can be, well, awkward! One day it's autumn and you're ready to break out your pumpkin spice candles while the next day the sweat on your chin reminds you that nope, it's definitely still summer. What can you do when temps give you whiplash? Rely on this no-fail combo for an easy solution. 

Summer dressing doesn't get much more casual than cutoff shorts. But when paired with nude pumps and a structured blazer, the look does a complete 180.

In times of weather-induced wardrobe distress, I like to make compromises. When it's too chilly for shorts yet too warm for jeans and boots, give yourself the best of both seasons and combine your favorite warm-weather and 

cold-weather pieces. 

Bold hues remind me of summer but in jewel tones these shades instantly become fall specific. Navy and orchid make a gorgeous couple during the transition season. 

A pop of neon yellow reminds us that summer isn't quite over yet.

September is notorious for fickle weather but that's why it's such a great month for fashion. You can get away with wearing wintery pieces and summery pieces. There truly are no limits! 

 If I had to guess, I'd say that September is Goldilock's favorite season: not too hot, not too cold, but just right. Embrace the pre-season and experiment with combinations out of your comfort zone. There's no better month to let your creative juices run wild!
