That Blouse :: alligator loafers + skirt

Tuesday, October 7, 2014

This is not your grandma's blouse. From its modern fit to its fresh color blocking, this classic closet staple just received a major tuneup.
From vintage-inspired details to modern designs, shoulder bags are having a moment. I fell in love with the the shape, texture, and size of this Brahmin - not to mention its effortless versatility from crossbody to satchel. It's officially become my favorite fall accessory. Extra style points for the neutral hue of the season - gray.
These Kate Spade dazzlers are a stunning statement for evening.
A flattering flounce skirt is the bottom of choice this season. Tops can be tucked in for a professional look, or worn loose for an effortless, off-duty vibe. Talk about a power pairing!
Just the right on-duty/off-duty mix means I'll be wearing these alligator flats 24/7. A shiny finish gives these babies instant polish while the wild print is ideal for pattern play.
A white oxford no longer has to be your go-to blouse for every professional event that comes your way. Although a white button-down will forever be classic and crisp, this trendy alternative is fun and fashion-forward while remaining sophisticated.
You know I'm all about that pop of color...especially if that color is pink.

Being a college senior, I'm constantly running between classes and meetings while going out with friends and preparing for job interviews. Because of my unique schedule and where I am in life - still a student yet trying to transition into the professional world - I've been building a versatile wardrobe that's office-appropriate yet youthful enough for my age and current social situations.

This is a favorite look of mine that I can easily wear to class or to a job interview. As painful as it may be to leave some of my college party pieces behind (can anyone say black bandage mini skirts?), I know that my post-grad self will thank me later when I actually have a full work wardrobe that I feel both professional and stylish in. Because really, who wants to wear the typical pencil skirt and blazer combo every single day? It's pieces like these that can really liven up your on-the-clock wardrobe.
