Festive Blue :: layered dress + lace-up booties

Tuesday, December 1, 2015

Now that Thanksgiving is over, we can officially embrace the Christmas season (aka the most wonderful time of the year). This month I'm bringing the celebratory spirit full force by focusing on holiday attire and showcasing festive looks for all sorts of affairs. I'm starting December off with a party ensemble fit for any occasion on your calendar.
Cobalt blue is a fresh alternative to cherry red when it comes to holiday dressing. Red is merry and bright while blue is sophisticated and demure. It's a flattering hue that's all the more glamorous when offset by black & gold.
I layered a black turtleneck underneath this fit-and-flare dress for a new take on an old favorite. I love that this look is completely modern and undeniably polished. It's office-party appropriate but at the same time it's the opposite of boring and expected. All in all, the striking color combination coupled with edgy and bold accessories make this holiday outfit an instant classic.
Lace-up shoes are hotter than ever right now and I have to say, these babies are the fiercest pair I've seen so far; they make basic pumps look like grandma shoes. If you're looking to add electrifying edge to your holiday wardrobe this season, these heels are a must-have.
When constructing that perfect party look, don't skimp on the glitz. Holiday fashion is all about standing out and putting forth major sparkle. I love this bold statement necklace because it's unique and a tad exotic.
For an exceptional holiday ensemble, don't stop at one statement piece. Statement studs and a statement necklace are most definitely encouraged this time of year!
Still craving a touch of outright Christmas glamour? Pucker up with red lipstick to make an undeniably festive entrance. I chose a muted berry lip but everyone knows you can never sport too much red during the holidays ;)

Happy December everyone! This year I'm so excited to experience the Christmas season here in New York City for the first time. It truly is a magical place to be during the holidays. It amazes me how dressed up the city gets - there are lights everywhere and pop-up Christmas tree shops roundoff almost every corner. My roommates and I haven't decorated our apartment yet but that's something to look forward to within the coming weeks. For now I'm just enjoying all of this holiday spirit and looking forward to the Rockefeller Center tree lighting ceremony this week!

  37. I would prefer dark colours and it needs to be at least 36 inches long. The concert is fairly formal but not one of those really high-brow classical ones.
