Break From Black :: fit & flare dress + scarf

Ditch your black power pieces for a day and think in color. After all, spring is on its way - start dressing the part now. 

Instead of black, opt for navy with a splash of white or cream. Building a colorful outfit around the color navy is easy due to the hue's versatility. Chestnut booties are a polished compliment. 

A light scarf is one of my favorite ways to add a bold punch of color. Patterned ones are great, but this solid jewel-toned scarf goes well with any look. I've been getting so much use out of it lately! 

I can't believe it's taken me this long to post about it, but this beautiful necklace was a very special gift from my boyfriend for Christmas. He customized it with our initials and chose rose gold for the center heart and everything. Needless to say I was very impressed when I opened this incredibly thoughtful gift on Christmas day. It's the perfect length and I love how delicate yet filled with meaning it is. 

Aside from a springtime color palette, another way to refresh your wardrobe is through accessories. I chose a mix of gold and silver and couldn't help but incorporate pink and white too. 

Instead of choosing plain nude tights, I decided to add some texture into the mix with these fun yet subtle patterned nylons. Choose nude over black once March hits. 

A scarf and a sundress is a perfectly balanced spring pairing.

Nothing against my favorite neutrals but...raise your hand if your sick of black, grey, and shades of brown! Is it just me or has everyone else's wardrobe been matching these dull, grey skies we've been seeing lately? Don't get me wrong, I love a strong ashen color palette as much as the next fashionista, but sometimes you just need a little color in your life! 

This look was inspired by springtime and, surprise surprise, does not have one speck of black or grey in it. Although most of the country is still freezing, that doesn't mean you can't have a little fun with colorful accessories and a 

long-sleeved sundress. Here's to warmer temps ahead!
