Whether you're picnicking, beachside, or hosting a family barbecue, embrace the Americana spirit and proudly show your stars and stripes this July 4th - you can take that literally or just wear red, white, and blue like me :)
The eyelet detailing on the shoulders and hem really drew me to this dress. I believe it's the small things that make a piece special. This is definitely no ordinary shirtdress...it also comes in black! Purchase either color here.
Notice my NYC Alex & Ani bangle? I love this design and the cool thing is that this is exactly what the old metro coins used to ride the subway looked like back in the day. That's what I like to call retro accessorizing at its finest!
I own quite a few belts but yet never seem to wear them as often as I could. However, this nude belt is definitely one that I'm going to get a lot of use out of. I can already tell! I love the thickness of it and how the color effortlessly matches literally everything I own. For me, the thicker the belt the more modern appeal it has.
These Kate Spade stud earrings seem to have been made for the 4th. The red and white pattern is subtly festive, which is just perfect when dressing for the occasion in a way that's not so in-your-face.
These Clark's heels are the perfect shade of nude for my skin tone. Call me pale, but from far away it almost looks like I'm shoeless!
I don't have a huge hat collection (yet) but two of the five hats I do own are fedoras. The shape really fits my head well - I love how they look! This one is ideal for summer due to its light coloring and straw material. I find myself wanting to wear it with everything.
I'm not one to wear anything too gaudy when it comes to holiday dressing, but for the 4th of July especially, the outfit ideas come easy and it's a cinch to find effortless inspiration - no one wants to match the occasion in an obvious, over-the-top fashion. Think a simple white top, denim, and a red lip; because what's more American than a red lip? Or take my lead and opt for a feminine white dress complete with red & blue accessories (nails count too)!

[dress: Ann Taylor, hat: Ann Taylor, belt: Ann Taylor, heels: Clark's (old but I also love these and they're on sale), earrings: Kate Spade, gold bangle: Alex & Ani, amethyst bangle: David Yurman, gold link bracelet: Stella & Dot, silver heart bracelet: Tiffany & Co., sunglasses: borrowed from my roommate who bought them from a street vendor in NYC (similar here), lipstick: Urban Decay's F-Bomb]
It's always fun for me to put together a 4th of July look. Usually I come up with a couple, but this year I decided to focus on just one. I've been obsessing over this white shirtdress since I bought it so I really wanted to make it shine. And how adorable are these red heart-shaped sunnies? This pair is my roommate's but I'm thinking I need to invest in a pair for myself (purchase yours here). They're so fun...and they look fabulous next to a red lip!
Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday. I don't have plans yet for the big day but that's the great thing about living in the city, if you can't find something to do, something will find you!

ReplyDeleteI adore the the dress and I bet it looks awesome in black too! And it was such a smart choice to add that belt because now the whole look comes together and has more shape!
