Springtime Blues // Cropped Chambray + Leather Pants

Wednesday, March 25, 2020

My world definitely doesn't look like this right now. These were taken much earlier in the month when 2020 Spring Fashion was a still a thing. Now we're all wearing a whole lot more sweat pants and a whole lot less high heels. But while this isn't the year ANYONE had in mind, it won't last forever. Until then, I'm trying to get more creative around the apartment while enjoying spring from the comfort of our home.

It's hard to resist a red-lip-denim moment. I love this combo any time of year, but I love even MORE how it came together here with leather trousers, round shades, and an artwork-esque bag. This look is chic, simple, yet majorly impactful.

When I first spotted this STAUD bag online, I fell in love with its unique shape. STAUD has some of the prettiest, most original purses I've seen, and they're true outfit game-changers. The amount of polish this bag adds to my outfit shouldn't be legal ;)

These are the last of the extra photos Antonio and I took before the Earth flipped upside down. Clearly we won't be able to hit the streets of New York anytime soon for a photo shoot, which definitely hits a somber note — on more levels than one.

I'm not sure how my blog will look moving forward, but we'll take it one week, one day at a time. For now, I'm more thankful than ever for mine and my family's health. Stay well, everyone <3

Feeling Wild // Python Jacket + Lace & Leather

Wednesday, September 25, 2019

A little bit of leather, a touch of lace, and a splash of animal print will give you a wildly chic look that's part sexy, part fierce, and 100 percent on-trend. Date night, girls night, or any night, this outfit will supply ample confidence. All you have to do is get into it.

I'm back at it again with the snakeskin. This time, I'm rocking a buttery soft blazer jacket that adds just the right amount of pizazz to anything you pair it with. I love this piece styled with edgy, sexy pieces like a leather mini skirt and lacy bodysuit just as much as I love it over skinny jeans and a white tee.

It may not seem like it at first glance, but this look truly is versatile. It actually kind of has a Jekyll and Hyde effect, which is fun! By day, it's office-appropriate with the jacket buttoned and closed. But by night, BAM! It can be completely transformed simply by keeping the jacket open or removing it entirely. I love a good two-looks-in-one ensemble!

I WAS feeling a little wild when I put this outfit together. Leather, animal print, and lace make quite the statement on their own, but when combined, they create a whole new animal. Add red lips into the mix and you've got yourself a bonafide look-at-me ensemble.

Something like this is perfect when you're after that attention-grabbing effect. But I love that this outfit can also keep it chill when all buttoned up. It's basically the ultimate desk-to-happy-hour combo ðŸ‘Œ.

Feline Fatale // leopard pants + necktie blouse

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper's leopard outfit idea
Take your femme fatale game to new heights with fierce cat prints that scream sexy confidence. Throw on a leather accent and, FORGET about it! Is there anything more sultry?

Florals for spring are cute. And don't get me wrong, I adore florals, but leopard on the other hand? Leopard is bold, attention-grabbing, and ultrachic. Paired with a conservative Victorian-esque ruffle blouse, it's also unexpected. It's what I like to call, business up top, party on the bottom!

When the clothes speak for themselves, keeping accessories minimal is key. But minimal in no way has to mean boring! This Alice & Olivia face purse is a favorite of mine that's neutral yet packs major personality. I also love these dainty gold earrings. If you look too fast, you just might miss them.

This look really jived with me. And while I truly love every outfit I showcase on my blog, this one in particular felt especially "me." I love that it's fun, wild, and super of-the-moment. Both animal print and ruffle necklines were ALL over the runways this past Fashion Month, so prepare to see a whole lot more this season and next!

This outfit is also crazy versatile. Forget changing clothes after work or bringing a separate pair of heels for date night. This look works as is no matter the event or occasion. How refreshing is that?

Spotted Comfort // Leopard Vest + Velvet Pants

Wednesday, January 16, 2019

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper's 2019 winter outfit idea
Winter is no longer taking it easy on us. For a while there I thought, “Hey, this whole winter thing isn’t as bad as I remember. I can totally do this!” Welp, she’s back with vengeance, people; and I. Am. Cold. The worst part? This isn’t even the worst part! ...As I type this, it’s actually 33 degrees and sunny outside (which, as sad as it is, is actually decent). In preparation for temps 20 degrees and under, I’m layering, hibernating, and taking advantage of fluffy, cozy textures — starting with fur (specifically leopard, because you know me).

Vests may not specifically be “in” at this CURRENT moment, but I don’t think I could ever part with some of my favorites — including this fabulous leopard number. In fact, I’m sitting here right now wearing this tuxedo vest that I equally love. Vests are an amazing winter choice because they warm you up without overheating you, and they’re so fun to play with — oh the styling and layering opportunities! They can easily fit underneath my heavy down coat, and they instantly add dimension and polish to any outfit. Consider me a fan for life 👌

Starting with a basic black palette, I decidedly made accessories the focal point of this look. Black is clean, sophisticated, and versatile (did I mention slimming?), and these bold, cheery extras are fun, colorful, and refreshing. There’s nothing like a pop of lavender, canary yellow, or crisp white (or hello, all THREE) to brighten up your wintery ensembles.

Keeping warm is pretty much the name of the game at this point, but, ahem, staying stylish is also a must :) For a more elevated look, rather than reaching for your fave hoodie or puffer vest, a fur vest or teddy jacket effortlessly provides that extra oomph your outfit may need. I’m also relying on supersoft textures more than ever, as the pants I’m wearing above are velvet and my sweater feels like a comfy light blanket. Let’s get through this god-forsaken season together, shall we?

Catwalk // leopard skirt + baby blue beret

Nyc fashion blogger Kathleen Harper's leopard skirt outfit ideas
Animal print may seem adventurous, but although all-over leopard is trending, you don't have to go head-to-toe. Start with one standout piece and build a neutral or monochrome outfit around it. Here, I relied on black to ground my look, and while I was at it, I couldn't resist a beret for a fun pop of color!

This leopard skirt may just be my favorite purchase this fall. It's endlessly versatile, flattering, and full of personality. Most importantly, it's a super fun alternative to your run-of-the-mill black pencil skirt. I can easily see myself dressing this piece down with sneakers or going all out glam in strappy stilettos.

For an extra layer of warmth, I threw on my trusty varsity jacket. I honestly grabbed it without really thinking, but it actually made a great addition to my collegiate-inspired look. I love when pieces unexpectedly fit so well together.

How gorgeous is Columbia's campus? After walking by and through it dozens of times, Antonio and I finally decided to do a shoot there. The crazy part is, we only live a few blocks away — how did it take us so long to finally snap some photos there? Needless to say, we'll definitely be back!
