[top: Ann Taylor, skirt: on sale now at Ann Taylor, sandals: Steve Madden, headband (similar), watch: Coach (similar), necklace: Tiffany & Co]

When I first saw this skirt at Ann Taylor, where I am currently working for the summer, I immediately knew that I would end up getting it. I am the youngest one out of my coworkers at AT, and so far this summer I have spent the most money there by far. It's actually become a joke to the extent that whenever we get something new in the store and someone announces that they want to buy it, someone else will pipe up, "Well ya better get it before Kathleen snatches it up instead!" It's all in good fun and it's been fabulous working with the women at Ann Taylor, but the truth is that they're right and my crazy summer spending habits need to be nixed otherwise I'll end up going back to school next month totally broke. This skirt however needed to be purchased before I started cracking down on myself.
This skirt is so unique in how it pairs the bright blue and black together using horizontal stripes; shocking in the best way possible! The top I'm wearing is a super comfy, super versatile shirt that can be worn with jeans and a fun necklace to dress up the jeans, or like it's shown here with a fitted skirt and sparkly sandals for a dinner out on the town. I love how it can be worn off-the-shouldar or with a cowl-type neckline. Any piece that has multiple ways to wear it as well as a variety of things to wear it with, is a definite fashion DO on my list! And finally, these sandals are glorious. Steve Madden has come out with some of my favorite shoes of all time, and these are no exception. I love anything sparkly and these are perfect because due to their subdued color they're not too flashy. An added bonus is that they don't hurt my feet at all!
This look inspired me to go all-natural with my long curly hair and add a silver flower headband for that extra glam I thought the outfit was otherwise lacking. The whole ensemble would also look fantastic with plain black pumps to dress it up even further or even a long necklace for a slightly different style.
